Binance reported on October 27, 2026, that it successfully blocked a series of cyberattacks targeting its systems over the preceding week. The exchange confirmed that no assets were lost and no internal systems were compromised during these incidents.
The attacks were linked to a social engineering campaign known as Contagious Interview. This scheme involves fake hiring processes where targets are prompted to download and execute malicious code under the guise of coding tests or job interviews.
This event follows a separate security incident on October 8, 2026, where $2.84 million was drained from the BNB Chain. Binance attributed that earlier exploit to the group known as SquidSquad.
In response to the recent attempts, Binance emphasized the importance of employee awareness and internal security monitoring. The exchange advised users to remain cautious of unsolicited job offers that require running unverified software.
