Binance has distributed a dividend of $1.88 per share to holders of SPYB, a tokenized version of the SPDR S&P 500 ETF. The payout was executed by issuing additional SPYB tokens directly to users' spot wallets, effectively functioning as an automatic reinvestment mechanism.

The SPYB token is a BEP-20 asset on the BNB Smart Chain, providing 1:1 economic exposure to the underlying SPY ETF shares. These assets are held in segregated custody by BTECH Holdings Limited, an affiliate of Binance licensed by the Abu Dhabi Global Market’s Financial Services Regulatory Authority.

Eligibility for the dividend was determined by a snapshot taken on September 18, 2026, at 00:00 UTC. To facilitate the distribution, Binance temporarily suspended specific account functions starting at 23:30 UTC on September 17, though trading for the SPYB/USDT pair remained active.

SPYB is part of the bStocks platform, which launched in mid-2026 to enable tokenization of US equities and ETFs. This initiative follows a previous attempt by Binance to offer stock tokens in 2021, which was discontinued due to regulatory pressure.
