Binance led the spot trading volume in August 2026, reaching up to $243 billion. Total spot volume across 14 major centralized exchanges increased by 19% from July, reaching $510.4 billion. In July, the volume across these exchanges had fallen by 21.7% to approximately $429 billion.

The recovery was driven by a more than 30% surge in Bitcoin's price during August, which increased trading activity. Daily trading peaks in the middle of the month approached $37 billion. Binance specifically reported record inflows exceeding $15.7 billion during this period.

Within the sample of 14 tracked exchanges, Binance's market share remained stable at roughly 45-46%, with August figures ranging between $227 billion and $243 billion. However, in a wider sample of centralized exchanges, Binance's share is around 28%, with total spot volume reaching approximately $811 billion.

This broader market view shows a 15% increase from July's two-year low of $705 billion. While Coinbase and KuCoin reported substantial percentage gains in their trading volumes, total volumes remain below previous historical peaks.
