Bentley has officially abandoned its previous goal of becoming an all-electric brand by 2030. CEO Frank-Steffen Walliser stated that the company is shifting toward a more flexible strategy to adapt to changing market conditions and regulatory environments. The brand will now maintain a diverse lineup of both electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles to better respond to fluctuating consumer demand.

The company recently unveiled its first pure electric model, the Torcal. Originally, the launch of this vehicle was delayed by one year. Bentley plans to introduce its next electric model after 2030, which is expected to utilize a derivative of the Volkswagen Group’s SSP architecture. To avoid product overlap, the Torcal will remain a dedicated electric vehicle without a hybrid variant.

To improve operational agility, Bentley is accelerating its development processes. The company has already reduced its new vehicle development cycle to 48 months and aims to shorten it further to 36 months, matching the standards of the Volkswagen brand. Production lines will be configured to support both electric and hybrid models simultaneously to ensure maximum flexibility.
