Bentley is preparing to debut its new electric SUV, the Torcal, at the end of this month. The vehicle is built on a platform shared with the Porsche Cayenne and is expected to reach the market in 2027. Despite its camouflage, the model is positioned as a luxury competitor smaller than the current Bentayga.
The vehicle features an adaptive air suspension system with modified oil flow in the dampers to differentiate between Comfort and Sport modes. Engineers have prioritized steering alignment and ride smoothness. The powertrain is expected to deliver over 800 hp and 700 lb ft of torque, with a curb weight estimated at nearly 6,000 lbs.
Bentley is developing a simulated engine sound inspired by the 1980s V8 Turbo R, created using recorded drum beats rather than synthesizers. The company claims this auditory feedback helps reduce motion sickness. The digital interface includes graphics inspired by hand-cut crystal decanters from Cumbria Crystal.
The manufacturer emphasizes sustainability by using natural fibers for door cards and offering a Merino wool interior option in partnership with Fox Brothers. The production facility in Crewe, England, utilizes solar energy and other renewable practices to meet environmental targets.
Technical targets for the Torcal include a range exceeding 370 miles and a peak charging rate of 400 kW. The company aims to achieve a 10 to 80 percent charge in under 20 minutes, with the ability to add 100 miles of range in seven minutes. Pricing for the new model has not yet been disclosed.
