Beget has introduced public IPv6 /64 subnets for its cloud servers across all available locations. Users can now manage these subnets directly through the company's control panel. The new feature allows for the simultaneous use of IPv6 alongside existing IPv4 configurations or as a standalone networking solution.
The /64 subnets are provided to users at no additional cost. This implementation enables the assignment of global IPv6 addresses to individual services, containers, and network resources. According to Beget CPO Vladislav Kolesnikov, the update is designed to help users scale infrastructure without the limitations of IPv4 address space.
The new networking capability supports various use cases, including the deployment of websites, APIs, Docker, and Kubernetes environments. It is also intended for microservice architectures and IoT projects. Beget provides technical documentation to assist users with configuring global addresses for containers and dual-stack setups.
Looking ahead, the company intends to integrate IPv6 support into its other cloud offerings. Future updates will extend this functionality to managed cloud databases and Kubernetes services, allowing for broader adoption of the protocol across the platform's ecosystem.
