The Base network, an Ethereum layer-2 solution by Coinbase, launched tokenized versions of major US stocks on August 24, 2026. The list includes Nvidia, Apple, Alphabet, and Meta, which are issued under the B20 standard. Each token is backed 1:1 by shares held by the brokerage infrastructure provider Alpaca.
Daily trading volume for these assets on decentralized exchanges reached $100 million. The cumulative volume for the first month exceeded $228 million. In the first week of operation, the volume was approximately $94.6 million.
The Aerodrome platform currently dominates the market, processing over 77% of all tokenized stock trading volume on Base. Unlike traditional exchanges, these tokens are available for trading around the clock and support T+0 settlement.
Traders can use fractional tokens as collateral in DeFi protocols, lend them, or provide liquidity to earn fees. The current offering is limited to four mega-cap stocks, providing a new asset class for liquidity providers on the network.
