CEO Brian Moynihan announced at the Barclays 24th Annual Global Financial Services Conference on September 14 that Bank of America expects flat trading revenue for Q3 2026. This projection compares to the $5,4 billion reported in the same period of 2025.

Following the statement, Bank of America shares fell by approximately 5% to 5,4%, marking the lowest performance in the KBW Bank Index. The decline also affected the stock prices of competitors, including JPMorgan, Citigroup, and Goldman Sachs.

The bank projects investment banking fees for Q3 2026 to reach between $1,6 billion and $1,8 billion. This forecast is below analyst expectations of nearly $2 billion and represents a decline of over 10% compared to Q3 2025.

The updated guidance follows a strong performance in Q2 2026, during which the bank reported a 33% increase in trading revenue and a 50% surge in investment banking fees. The full Q3 2026 financial results are scheduled for release around October 14.
