The Axiom JDK team has released Profiling Tools, a plugin for the OpenIDE platform designed to monitor and analyze Java applications directly within the development environment. The tool allows developers to observe JVM processes running locally, whether they were launched from the IDE or the console.

The plugin provides real-time data visualization, including CPU usage, Heap and Non-Heap memory consumption, and Garbage Collection (GC) load. Users can select specific time intervals for these charts, such as the last 60 seconds, five minutes, or the entire monitoring period.

The tool features a thread management interface that displays thread names, states, CPU load per core, and allocated bytes. It supports filtering threads by name or status and allows users to view stack traces. For applications launched from OpenIDE, developers can navigate directly to the source code from the stack trace.

The Overview tab provides essential process metadata, including the Process ID (PID), startup arguments, Java Home directory, and system properties. While the plugin currently does not support monitoring processes running inside Docker containers, it offers a streamlined alternative to external tools like VisualVM or JDK Mission Control for daily development tasks.
