AvtoVAZ has certified engines for the Lada Iskra and the new Lada Azimut crossover to meet Euro-6 emission standards. The company is currently preparing these models for mass production.
The Lada Iskra, currently equipped with 90 hp and 106 hp engines compliant with Euro-5, will see its environmental class upgraded. Technical details regarding the modifications required for the transition to Euro-6 remain undisclosed.
The Lada Azimut will launch with two atmospheric engines: a 1.6-liter unit producing 122 hp paired with a six-speed manual transmission, and a 1.8-liter unit with 135 hp paired with a CVT. A 150 hp turbocharged engine with an automatic transmission is planned for later release.
The manufacturer has completed a stress test of the production line by assembling 50–60 pre-production vehicles. Full-scale production of the Azimut is scheduled to begin on September 18.
In addition to engine updates, AvtoVAZ has confirmed that its environmental management system complies with ISO 14001 and GOST R ISO 14001 standards, following an audit of its welding, painting, and assembly processes.
