AvtoVAZ has conducted stress tests on the body of its upcoming Lada Azimut crossover, subjecting the structure to a load of up to 10 tons. This force is equivalent to the weight of approximately six to seven passenger cars or two adult African elephants. During the procedure, engineers applied pressure to the door area, pushing a loading element 46 cm into the frame to evaluate the structural integrity and geometry retention under extreme conditions.
The manufacturer states that these tests are designed to assess how the vehicle's frame reacts to forces that significantly exceed standard operational loads. The Lada Azimut is scheduled to arrive at dealerships before the end of 2026. Initial models will feature 1.6-liter and 1.8-liter engines with outputs of 120 hp and 132 hp, respectively, paired with either a manual transmission or a CVT.
The product lineup will expand in 2027 with the introduction of a turbocharged engine option paired with an automatic transmission. These technical evaluations serve as a critical step in the development process before the vehicle enters the consumer market.
