Avtoteka, an Avito project, has launched a service providing vehicle history reports for cars imported from China. Users can access these reports by entering a VIN on a dedicated landing page, regardless of whether the vehicle is already in Russia or currently being imported.
The initiative addresses the difficulty of verifying the history of imported used cars, as China lacks a single public registry. Data for these reports is sourced from professional market participants, the Insurance Bureau, and the Traffic Management Bureau of China.
According to Autostat, 334,300 used cars were imported into Russia between January and September 2026, a 4% increase year-on-year, with approximately 25% originating from China. Avito Auto reports that about 1.8 million Chinese-made vehicles were imported into Russia since 2022.
The new reports cover accident history, mileage, owner count, repairs, insurance claims, and usage in taxi services. These foreign reports are separate from standard Russian records, though Russian reports will now include a notification if foreign data is available for a specific VIN.
