Jeremy Klaperman has stepped down as interim CFO of Automattic less than a month after his appointment. He previously served as the CFO of the company's VIP Enterprise business unit and was moved to the interim corporate role following a major governance crisis.

The leadership transition occurred after a period of instability in September, during which the entire board of directors was replaced. CEO Matt Mullenweg was briefly placed on leave by the board before reclaiming his position within 33 hours, leading to the departure of former CFO Mark Davies and chief legal officer Andy Missan.

Automattic announced a new board of directors in late September, which now includes author Hugh Howey, former IRL co-founders Henry Khachatryan and Krutal Desai, and author Amy Chan. The company has not provided a reason for Klaperman's departure, though reports suggest he was demoted back to his previous role at the VIP unit.

Despite the executive changes, CEO Matt Mullenweg has stated he maintains full confidence in the company's financial position. No permanent replacement for the CFO position has been announced by the organization at this time.
