Developers from Nanosoft Razrabotka and the University of Hannover have proposed a new method for the automated verification of building information models (BIM). The approach involves converting regulatory requirements into a formal structure using a three-level text markup scheme.

The system transforms these requirements into OWL DL code, which is then compared against the information model data. This process utilizes logical inference to identify potential violations within construction projects automatically.

The authors highlight that manual compliance checking is time-consuming, accounting for approximately one-third of the total design process. Furthermore, human error leads to missed violations in 15–20% of cases.

The research team evaluated the efficiency of this method and analyzed its potential integration into the nanoCAD software platform. This development aims to address the growing demand for digital tools in the construction industry.
