Russian storage manufacturer Atlas has released version 2.5 of its Atlas Storage Management (ASM) software. The update introduces the RAID-z3 Triple Parity protection scheme, which allows data to remain accessible even if three drives fail simultaneously. This feature is recommended for environments managing critical data volumes starting from 1 PB.

The update improves performance by at least 30% for standard data access scenarios. On SSDs, the system achieves an average of 220,000 IOPS. During internal stress tests, the platform reached a record 1.45 million IOPS with a latency of approximately 0.5 ms, using 40 SAS SSDs in a RAID 10 configuration without DRAM caching.

ASM 2.5 introduces manual load balancing between controllers, allowing administrators to perform maintenance without system downtime. The software also features automated split-brain protection to prevent data synchronization errors and integrates the administrator manual directly into the management interface.

The updated platform includes improved compression and deduplication algorithms to optimize storage capacity. Additionally, the interface for monitoring disk arrays and LUN resources has been redesigned to simplify infrastructure management for partners and customers.
