Despite the official stop-work order, the facility continued to operate, reportedly utilizing shipping containers to house its mining equipment. The site recently experienced a significant failure, resulting in a leak of 3 million gallons of water, which forced local school closures.
City officials have confirmed that they are initiating legal proceedings to recover all expenses incurred from the incident, including costs associated with identifying and addressing the leak. The city has also pledged to implement more frequent compliance reviews for such facilities.
