ASUS has unveiled new renders of its upcoming Googlebook laptop, showcasing a traditional clamshell design. The device features a dedicated G-key on the keyboard, which is expected to trigger AI-powered functions or system shortcuts. Additionally, the laptop includes a light strip on the lid, a design element likely to become a signature feature across the Googlebook series for notifications and AI feedback.
The device is designed for business use with a slim profile and a wide range of ports. It includes USB-C, USB-A, HDMI, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Internal renders reveal an active cooling system with fans and heat pipes, suggesting support for higher performance tasks. The laptop is positioned as a premium model within the upcoming Googlebook lineup.
Googlebook is designed to succeed the Chromebook series by integrating ChromeOS and Android ecosystems with Gemini AI capabilities. The platform will support native Android applications and cross-device synchronization with Android smartphones. Google has partnered with ASUS, Acer, Dell, HP, and Lenovo to launch the new hardware platform.
The official pre-order date for the Googlebook series is set for September 21. While leaks have already surfaced for models from ASUS, Lenovo, and Acer, devices from Dell and HP remain unannounced. The platform represents a strategic shift for Google toward building a comprehensive AI PC ecosystem.
