A study by Uveon, part of Astra Group, reveals that organizational scale dictates remote access strategies. Companies with up to 500 remote users typically rely on direct connections to physical workstations. In contrast, organizations with thousands of users increasingly adopt VDI, terminal desktops, and application publishing to manage environments centrally.
According to Denis Mukhin, Director of Virtualization and Cloud Services at Astra Group, managing thousands of workstations requires centralized control over updates, access policies, and configurations. Large-scale infrastructures often integrate multiple models, including VDI, physical PC access, terminal services, and 3D VDI for CAD systems, to meet complex operational demands.
The research involved 262 participants from various sectors, including IT, finance, and industry. Currently, 56% of respondents use remote access to physical workstations, 50% use VDI, 46% use terminal desktops, and 43% use application publishing. Over half of the organizations surveyed combine multiple remote access models simultaneously.
Market data from Strategy Partners highlights the dominance of large enterprises, which accounted for 43% of demand for virtualization and VDI solutions in 2025, with an additional 18% from the broader B2B segment. The Russian VDI market is projected to grow from 4.8 ₽ billion in 2025 to between 10.2 ₽ billion and 10.7 ₽ billion by 2030.
