Astemo Americas is launching a multi-year expansion of its production facilities in Kentucky. The company plans to invest more than $112 million to boost the manufacturing capacity of hybrid electric vehicle motors at its two sites located in Berea.

The project involves adding nearly 300,000 square feet of warehouse and production space. This initiative represents the first phase of a broader strategy to increase the output of hybrid powertrain components throughout the company's Kentucky operations.

Astemo currently operates 23 manufacturing sites across the Americas, including 12 facilities in the United States. The company is headquartered in Farmington Hills, Michigan, and maintains an additional plant in Harrodsburg, Kentucky, which produces engine management systems and electric powertrain components.

The parent organization is a joint venture involving Hitachi, Honda Motor, and JIC Capital. Astemo has previously secured agreements to supply e-axles to Honda, as well as motors and inverters to JATCO for future Nissan hybrid and electric vehicles.
