The AstroLab 2.0 firmware update introduces a Sound Edit menu, enabling users to adjust individual parameters of instruments directly on the hardware. Previously, the keyboards were limited to macro controls and basic effect adjustments, functioning primarily as preset browsers. Users can now create custom sounds by saving initialized patches as templates, which can then be modified using the four macro knobs.
Arturia has expanded the instrument library with a new collection of multisampled instruments, including piano, string, and brass sections. This update adds a total of 67 new patches to the device. These additions aim to improve the realism of acoustic instrument sounds, addressing a previous performance gap compared to competing stage keyboards.
The update includes several functional refinements, such as octave LEDs that now display transposition and improved aftertouch responsiveness. Connectivity with the desktop AnalogLab application has been updated for better reliability. The AstroLab 2.0 firmware is currently available as a free download for all existing owners of the AstroLab keyboard series.
