Arm has launched the Total Design for Physical AI ecosystem, bringing together over 80 companies to accelerate the transition of physical AI from development to deployment. The initiative includes software developers, AI model creators, AI sensors, computing hardware, virtual platforms, and digital twins.

The core of the initiative is the Robotics Capability Framework, which aims to create a common language for describing and comparing robotic systems. Arm proposes dividing systems into six levels of complexity, ranging from RL0 to RL5, moving from reactive behavior to cognitive abilities and self-learning.

The framework does not standardize hardware or software. Instead, it links robotic capabilities to real-world application scenarios and technical requirements, such as latency, memory volume, power consumption, determinism, and security.

By establishing a unified description of capabilities and requirements, Arm aims to reduce integration complexity and help customers better evaluate robotic solutions. The company positions its own architecture as the computing foundation for systems that perceive, decide, and act in the real world.
