The Arcturus Vision camera module for the Steam Frame headset is now available for $150. The device weighs 10 grams and features a plug-and-play design, connecting directly to the expansion port located beneath the headset's bridge. Once installed, the system automatically switches to the new camera without requiring a reboot.

The module improves passthrough quality, allowing users to read text on smartphone screens, which was previously difficult with the native camera. According to RoadtoVR, the visual performance is comparable to the Meta Quest 3, though it remains behind the Apple Vision Pro. The device also enables the recording of spatial video.

Users can record video at a resolution of 2464x2464 pixels at 60fps using a free application provided by Arcturus. The company also offers a tool called Sync for Windows and Mac, which allows users to transfer and convert recorded footage into formats compatible with other VR headsets. A Linux version of the tool is currently in development.
