Arbitrum co-founder Steven Goldfeder introduced a "community source" licensing model to prevent companies from forking the code without contributing to the ecosystem. This structure applies to chains using the Orbit/Nitro stack that settle outside of Arbitrum One or Nova, requiring them to share 10% of their net revenue with the ecosystem.
The revenue sharing is split between two entities: 8% of the net revenue flows into the Arbitrum DAO treasury, governed by ARB token holders, and 2% goes to the Developer Guild.
Robinhood Chain, which launched its mainnet on July 1, 2026, operates as a dedicated Ethereum Layer 2 for tokenized stock offerings. The company had been testing these products on Arbitrum One since June 2025 before moving to its own infrastructure.
Financial performance has been significant. On September 1, 2026, Robinhood Chain recorded record single-day fees of $3.75 million. In July 2026, the chain contributed $360,000 to the Arbitrum DAO, which accounted for approximately 35% of the DAO's total monthly income for that period.
