Apple has launched the updated Mac Studio, featuring the new M5 Max and M5 Ultra chips. The design remains consistent with the 2022 model, retaining the same port configuration. The base M5 Max model starts at $2,499, while the entry-level M5 Ultra configuration is priced at $5,499.

The tested M5 Ultra unit, equipped with a 36-core CPU, 80-core GPU, 256GB of RAM, and 4TB of storage, costs $12,299. This hardware is positioned for AI development and high-end 3D visual effects workloads.

Benchmark tests show the M5 Ultra Mac Studio is approximately 30 percent faster than the previous M3 Ultra model in synthetic CPU tasks. Graphics performance in the Geekbench 7 OpenCL test also shows a 30 percent improvement, while Cinebench rendering scores are 63 percent higher.

The new Mac Studio models are available for shipping starting today. The company continues to offer the M5 Max and M5 Ultra chips as the primary performance options for this desktop workstation.
