Apple has introduced an updated version of its HomePod mini smart speaker, featuring the new S10 chip. The device is priced at $149, which is $50 more than the original model released in 2020. The new hardware is designed to enhance acoustic performance, dynamic range, and overall loudness.

The speaker includes integration with Siri AI, enabling multi-turn conversations, though the specific release date for this feature remains unannounced. Additionally, the device can detect sounds like smoke alarms and alert users via their smartphones. It also supports integration with the Apple TV 4K to create a four-speaker home entertainment system.

A new visual feature called Sound Glow allows the top of the device to pulse in sync with music, using colors derived from album art. Users can also select ambient soundscapes to trigger animations. The speaker is compatible with Mac devices for video calls and music playback.

The new HomePod mini is available in five colors: pink, green, blue, white, and midnight. Pre-orders for the device opened on October 13, 2026, with general availability scheduled for October 30, 2026.
