Apple introduced the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 on September 9. Both models feature upgraded processors, new health sensing systems, and enhanced AI capabilities. The Series 12 is designed for daily users, while the Ultra 4 targets outdoor and professional athletes.

The Series 12 starts at $399. It features a new optical sensing system for continuous heart rate monitoring and improved stability in low-signal conditions. The sensor adjusts sensing channels based on wrist position and wearing orientation to improve data accuracy during exercise.

Health features in the Series 12 are expanded to include body state and recovery analysis. A new 'Readiness' app, previously seen in watchOS 27 beta, may evaluate sleep, training, and recovery to suggest activity intensity. The device also improves strength training support, recording repetitions, weights, equipment types, and set durations.

Storage capacity for the Series 12 has increased from 64GB to 128GB, potentially supporting local AI models and Siri. The Apple Watch Ultra 4 also offers 128GB of storage and includes a faster chip, upgraded health sensors, and a more efficient power management system to reduce reliance on the iPhone.

The Ultra 4 maintains its rugged design for hiking, climbing, diving, and trail running, retaining its large display, action button, dual-frequency GPS, and high water resistance. Both models keep their previous exterior designs without significant changes to the case.

The event marked the first major product launch hosted by new CEO John Ternus. Pre-orders for both watches begin on September 12, with official market release scheduled for September 18.
