Apple has officially launched the AirPods 5, featuring active noise cancellation and a new acoustic architecture. The base model is priced at ¥999, while the version with a wireless charging case costs ¥1 199. The device incorporates recycled materials, including 70 percent recycled plastic in the charging case and 100 percent recycled cobalt in the battery.
The new model offers up to 5 hours of playback with active noise cancellation enabled, marking a 1-hour improvement over the AirPods 4. Total battery life with the charging case reaches 22 hours. The wireless charging case is compatible with Apple Watch chargers, Qi-certified chargers, and USB-C cables. The earbuds also feature an upgraded force sensor for volume control via swiping.
JD.com has opened pre-sales for the product. Customers in Beijing, Dalian, Jiangsu, and Jilin can access government subsidies, reducing the price to ¥849.15. Additionally, a trade-in program for old headphones valued over ¥100 provides an extra subsidy of ¥100 to ¥150, potentially lowering the final cost to between ¥699 and ¥709.
