Apple introduced the AirPods 5, featuring an open-ear active noise cancellation (ANC) system that reduces external noise up to 50% more effectively than the AirPods 4 ANC model. The headphones use a new multi-hole acoustic architecture and next-generation adaptive equalization to improve sound quality.
A premium version with a wireless charging case is available. This model introduces force sensors on the stems, allowing users to adjust volume by swiping up or down. The wireless case is compatible with Apple Watch chargers, Qi-certified chargers, and USB-C charging.
Battery life has been increased due to a redesigned battery. With ANC enabled, the earbuds provide up to 5 hours of playback, which is 1 hour more than the AirPods 4 ANC. Total battery life with the charging case and ANC active reaches up to 22 hours.
The product emphasizes environmental sustainability, using 40% recycled materials overall. The wireless charging case contains 70% recycled plastic, and the batteries use 100% recycled cobalt. Production across the supply chain utilizes 35% renewable energy, such as wind and solar power.
The AirPods 5 feature upgraded dust, sweat, and water resistance. The base model is priced at ¥999, while the version with the wireless charging case is priced at ¥1,199. Pre-orders are open now, with retail availability starting September 18.
