Apple has officially added the first-generation Apple TV 4K to its list of obsolete products. This classification applies to devices that have not been sold by the company for more than five years but less than seven years. As a result, users may now face challenges in obtaining official repair services and spare parts for this hardware.

The original Apple TV 4K, released in 2017, featured the A10X Fusion chip and was available in 32GB and 64GB storage configurations. It supported 4K resolution, Dolby Vision, and HDR10 via HDMI 2.0a, along with Gigabit Ethernet and 802.11ac Wi-Fi connectivity. The device included the first-generation Siri Remote with a glass touch surface.

Technical limitations of the first-generation model include a lack of support for HDMI ARC and eARC technologies. Meanwhile, industry reports suggest that Apple is preparing for a new product announcement on October 13, where the fourth generation of the Apple TV 4K is expected to be unveiled.
