Apple has officially released the first release candidate of Xcode 27.1, allowing developers to compile and debug applications specifically for the upcoming iPhone Duo. Developers can now submit these optimized apps and games through App Store Connect. Once recompiled with the new Xcode version, App Store product pages will automatically display a badge indicating the software is optimized for the new device.
The company has set a firm deadline for developers: starting in April 2027, every application submitted to the App Store must include screenshots specifically for the iPhone Duo. To assist with the transition, Apple provides a Device Hub simulator, which allows developers to preview how their apps perform across various folding configurations and screen orientations.
In addition to software tools, Apple is organizing a series of in-person developer workshops scheduled for the coming days. The iPhone Duo is set to open for pre-orders on Friday, October 16, with official retail availability and shipping starting on October 23. Users can begin preparing for the pre-order process as early as October 12.
