Apple has officially updated its list of obsolete and vintage products, marking the final model of the 12-inch MacBook as obsolete. This specific device, released in 2017, was the last iteration of the ultra-thin, fanless laptop series that first debuted in 2015.
According to Apple's internal policy, products are classified as obsolete if they have been out of production for more than five but less than seven years. While the company may still offer repair services for these units, availability depends entirely on current spare parts inventory at service centers.
The 12-inch MacBook was initially positioned as a potential successor to the MacBook Air, noted for its compact design and single-port configuration. However, due to performance limitations, the line was discontinued after the 2017 model. No further versions were developed.
In addition to the laptop, Apple has added several versions of the BeatsX Bluetooth headphones to the obsolete list. This update affects multiple color variants, including Flame Red, Rebel Black-Red, Matte Black, White, and Blue.
