Apple Music has launched a limited beta test for a new feature that displays a countdown timer for upcoming album releases. The dynamic clock appears above the album cover or tracklist, showing the exact remaining days, hours, and minutes until the official release.

Previously, the platform only provided a static release date for albums available for pre-add. The new visual element is designed to increase engagement and provide artists with additional promotional tools to build anticipation before a record becomes available for streaming.

Industry observers note that the real-time countdown encourages fans to share screenshots on social media, potentially driving higher traffic and stream counts on the launch day. This feature aims to boost the effectiveness of pre-release marketing campaigns.

The countdown timer is currently being rolled out in stages to select users and regions. Apple plans to expand the feature to its global subscriber base in future system updates once testing for time zone logic and cross-device interface compatibility is complete.
