Apple announced a major update to its Health app, introducing the Health Age calculation model and a Readiness Score system. These features leverage multi-modal sensor data from Apple Watch and iPhone to provide systemic physiological analysis and recovery guidance.

The Readiness Score generates a daily assessment from 0 to 100, helping users decide between high-intensity training or rest. The algorithm integrates data including sleep stages, heart rate variability, resting heart rate, skin temperature, blood oxygen, respiratory rate, and recent training load.

The Health Age feature assesses long-term cardiovascular health and biological aging. It uses metrics such as VO2 Max, daily activity, gait stability, resting heart rate, and blood pressure to compare a user's physiological status against epidemiological datasets.

The updated app features a new dashboard for visualizing health data. Apple stated that all processing for these new algorithms occurs locally on the device's neural engine, ensuring end-to-end encryption and user privacy.

The new Health app features will be available globally with the release of iOS 27 and watchOS 27 on September 14.
