Apple has initiated a round of layoffs within its Fitness+ division, according to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman. While the number of affected employees remains small, the move signals a shift in the company's approach to the service.
Internal sentiment within the Fitness+ team suggests that Apple plans to implement stricter cost-cutting measures over the coming months and years. These efforts are expected to be accompanied by significant organizational changes within the department.
Launched in 2020, the Fitness+ subscription service provides guided fitness and meditation content. It is priced at $9.99 per month and is compatible with iPad, iPhone, and Apple TV, while integrating with Apple Watch for activity tracking.
Despite maintaining a loyal user base, the service has faced challenges, including high churn rates and limited revenue contributions. Analysts have previously identified Fitness+ as one of Apple's weaker digital product offerings, though the company continues to support it.
