Apple has launched its new smart home hub, HomeView, which is built on the A18 chip, the same processor used in the iPhone 16. Despite this hardware capability, the device lacks native support for several key Apple services, including Apple TV, Apple Books audiobooks, Apple Music Classical, and Apple News Plus.

Users currently need to rely on an iPhone and AirPlay to stream content from these services to the device. This operational model resembles CarPlay, where the hub functions primarily as a display for content pushed from a smartphone rather than running standalone applications.

Unlike competing smart displays such as Amazon Echo Show or Google Nest Hub, which offer native streaming for platforms like Prime Video and YouTube, HomeView does not include an App Store. Apple has confirmed that select applications require a paired and compatible iPhone to function.
