Apple has extended free access to satellite-based security features for users of iPhone 14, iPhone 15, and iPhone 16. The extension applies to devices activated in supported countries by midnight Pacific Time on September 9, 2026.

The company has extended the trial period for iPhone 14 users at least three times. Originally, the trial was intended to last two years from the launch of the device in November 2022. Apple shifted the expiration date in 2025 and has done so again this year.

The satellite services, provided through partner Globalstar, include Emergency SOS via satellite, Find My iPhone, and Roadside Assistance. These tools allow users to contact emergency services, share their location, or send messages when cellular or Wi-Fi signals are unavailable.

Apple has not disclosed whether it will charge for these features after the free access period ends. Currently, eligible users who activated their devices by today can continue using these services for at least one more year.
