Apple is currently developing prototypes for a screenless fitness tracker designed to be worn on the wrist. The device features a fabric band and a sensor-equipped computing module, focusing on health and fitness monitoring without a display. While the company has been exploring this product category for several months, a final decision on its release has not been made. If approved, the tracker is not expected to launch before 2028.

The company is also planning updates to its existing smartwatch lineup, which are scheduled for late 2027 or later. In May, Apple acquired Sonera, a firm specializing in non-invasive sensor technology capable of measuring neural signals. Additionally, Apple announced the upcoming Siri Recap feature for Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4, which will generate automated conversation summaries starting in a beta version later this year.

This potential move follows similar product launches by competitors. Google introduced its screenless Fitbit Air in May, while Garmin also maintains fitness devices in its portfolio that lack a display. CEO John Ternus recently noted that the company has several new products in development beyond the latest iPhone, emphasizing a focus on future hardware innovation.
