Apple is currently developing a screenless health and fitness tracker, according to a report by Mark Gurman from Bloomberg on September 23. The device is designed as a wrist-worn wearable, similar in form factor to products offered by Whoop.
The primary function of this new accessory is to monitor physical activity, recovery metrics, and body data. By entering this category, Apple aims to compete directly with existing lightweight health-tracking devices currently available on the market.
This development is part of a broader effort by Apple to rethink the future of its wearable product line. The company is exploring various design possibilities, including an Apple Watch with a circular display and the aforementioned screenless fitness tracker.
The Apple Watch has maintained a consistent design and usage pattern since its inception. If these new concepts reach the market, they would represent the most significant shift in direction for Apple's wearable hardware strategy to date.
