Apple has updated its Shortcuts app for iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27, introducing over 35 new and improved actions. The update focuses on the Use Model command, which now supports enhanced Apple Intelligence models and allows users to retrieve real-time information from the internet.
New automation triggers include notifications from news apps, keyboard connection status for iOS and iPadOS, and screenshot storage events across all platforms. The update also adds specific actions for managing messages, such as sending Tapbacks, marking as read, and deleting conversations, alongside new tools for managing reminders and VPN configurations.
The Shortcuts editor now supports creating workflows using natural language descriptions. Automation features are integrated directly into the app and can be synchronized across devices. Additionally, existing shortcuts will automatically generate summaries using Apple Intelligence features.
Several existing actions received upgrades, including support for Markdown in Notes, group chat support for sending messages, and improved text extraction from images. The location action now references home and work addresses, while navigation tools include new options to avoid tolls or highways.
