Apple is currently developing its own gaming controllers for the iPhone, according to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman. The project was identified through references found in the latest macOS beta code, which include two specific model identifiers: T6502 and T1057.
The technical documentation suggests that the upcoming devices will feature a D-pad, analog sticks, and vibration motors. Furthermore, the controllers may incorporate accelerometers and gyroscopes to support motion-based gaming controls, though the final physical design remains undisclosed.
Gurman suggests that these peripherals will likely be released under the Beats brand rather than the primary Apple label. The project is being overseen by the Beats management team, which typically positions its products at more accessible price points compared to Apple-branded hardware.
The introduction of these controllers is intended to strengthen the gaming ecosystem across Apple TV 4K, iOS, and Mac platforms. By providing dedicated hardware, the company aims to improve user engagement with high-end 3A titles available on its devices.
