Apple has extended the delivery window for the Mac Studio equipped with the M5 Ultra chip to 16–18 weeks. Due to these production constraints and rising demand, customers placing orders now may not receive their devices until January 2027.

The M5 Ultra chip, unveiled in August, features a 36-core CPU, an 80-core GPU, and a 32-core Neural Engine. The GPU architecture includes second-generation dynamic caching, hardware-accelerated mesh shading, and third-generation ray tracing.

Apple has recently modified several product configurations. In April, the entry-level Mac mini with the M4 chip, 16GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage was removed from the store. In early May, the 256GB storage option for the M3 Ultra Mac Studio was also discontinued.

During its latest earnings call, Apple reported that memory procurement costs have risen steadily since the December quarter. The company expects these costs to continue increasing through the September quarter, noting that existing inventory buffers have only partially mitigated the financial impact.
