The Vapor developer project successfully ran Grand Theft Auto 5 on an iPhone 18 Pro Max powered by the Apple A20 Pro chip. The game, running in an emulated environment, achieved performance levels comparable to the NVIDIA GTX 1650 desktop graphics card.

Benchmark tests conducted at 1080p resolution with DirectX 11 showed average frame rates of 66 FPS in city driving scenarios and 80 FPS in other environments. The settings included high texture quality, FXAA anti-aliasing, and 16x anisotropic filtering.

The A20 Pro demonstrated a power efficiency advantage of approximately 11.8 times compared to the GTX 1650. This efficiency is attributed to the 2nm chip architecture and the new WMCM packaging technology, which relocates memory to the side to improve thermal management.

Hardware improvements in the iPhone 18 Pro series include a larger vapor chamber cooling system. While the project is still in development and faces compatibility challenges, the results indicate that mobile SoCs are increasingly capable of handling tasks previously reserved for PC hardware.
