The A20 Pro chip, featured in the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, has appeared in the Geekbench 6 database. Early benchmark results show a single-core score of 4,719 and a multi-core score of 12,677 for the iPhone 18 Pro, with the CPU clocking at approximately 4.93 GHz.

Compared to the A19 Pro, the A20 Pro shows a 21% to 23% increase in single-core performance and a 27% to 28% boost in multi-core tasks. The new seven-core GPU delivers a 38% to 40% performance improvement in Metal tests, aligning with Apple's official claims.

Built on TSMC's 2nm process, the A20 Pro includes a six-core CPU, a seven-core GPU, and a 32-core neural engine. The chip features 50% higher memory bandwidth and a redesigned cooling system with a vapor chamber three times larger than the one in the iPhone 17 Pro.

Apple claims the A20 Pro offers up to 40% higher sustained performance compared to the A19 Pro. The architecture is optimized for local AI tasks, including improved FP8 calculation capabilities to support large language models directly on the device.

The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max will be available for pre-order on September 12, with an official launch on September 18. Pricing starts at $1,199 for the Pro model and $1,299 for the Pro Max, with storage options reaching up to 2TB.
