The Apple A20 Pro system-on-chip has appeared in early Geekbench 7 benchmark results, scoring 4,006 points in single-thread and 11,460 points in multi-thread tests. These figures represent a 23.3% and 27.1% increase respectively over the previous A19 Pro model.

The new chip features a six-core architecture, including two desktop-class cores clocked at up to 4.93 GHz and four efficiency cores. It also utilizes a memory interface with 50% higher bandwidth compared to its predecessor, likely supported by a 96-bit memory I/O.

In single-thread performance, the A20 Pro outperforms the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D by 26% and the Intel Core i9-14900KS by 32%. Compared to mobile rivals, it leads the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen5 and Xiaomi XRing O3 by 31.5% to 33.7%.

The processor is manufactured using TSMC's 2nm (N2) process technology. This transition marks a significant performance jump compared to the previous shift from 4nm to 3nm, which yielded only single-digit percentage gains in earlier generations.

The A20 Pro also demonstrates competitive single-thread performance against Apple's M-series laptop chips, surpassing the M5 by 7%, the M4 by 20%, and the M3 by 43%. However, it remains behind those chips in multi-thread tasks due to its lower core count.
