Apollo Global Management is expanding its investment strategy in the artificial intelligence hardware sector. The firm aims to capture opportunities in chip manufacturing, data centers, and infrastructure by providing equity, debt, and asset-backed financing.
The company has appointed partner Reed Rayman to lead its chip-focused investment efforts. Rayman will prioritize sourcing deals linked to semiconductors and their lease payments, aiming to oversee the financing of large and complex AI infrastructure projects.
Apollo currently employs approximately 60 staff members dedicated to digital infrastructure. This team is part of a broader strategy to integrate various investment divisions within the firm to secure major industry deals.
Recent activity includes participation in the Series D round for factory developer Hadrian, which raised $1.37 billion in August. Additionally, Apollo invested in the Series G round for chip startup SiFive, which secured $400 million in April.
Apollo is also one of six financial institutions partnering with Nvidia to mobilize over $500 billion in third-party capital. This initiative focuses on establishing independent compute platforms to support the expansion of AI infrastructure.
