Apex Group, which manages over $3.5 trillion in assets across 52 countries, is developing infrastructure to connect family offices and wealth managers with institutional-grade private-market deals. CEO Peter Hughes views blockchain-based tokenization as the primary solution for improving distribution in private credit.
The company has expanded its capabilities through strategic moves. In May 2025, Apex acquired a majority stake in Tokeny, following a partnership established in 2023. This gave the firm control over the T-REX Ledger, a compliance-focused issuance platform based on Polygon infrastructure for multi-chain distribution.
In July 2025, the firm launched Apex Digital 3.0, a platform managing the entire lifecycle of tokenized assets, including issuance, distribution, custody, and compliance. Additionally, a partnership with the London Stock Exchange Group is scheduled for February 2026 to further expand the tokenization of private funds.
Apex aims to have $100 billion in tokenized assets under administration by June 2027. The company has already launched live products, including a Bitcoin mining-related note on Coinbase and a tokenized real estate fund on Goldman Sachs' GS DAP platform, supported by 36 regulatory licenses.
According to an Apex survey from May 2026, 50% of asset managers have adopted tokenization strategies. Among these managers, 45% have already tokenized private-market assets, with private equity and private credit being the most common use cases.
