Anthropic has reported non-cash expenses exceeding $660 million between October 2025 and March 2026, primarily driven by its employee charitable stock-matching program. Under this initiative, the company matches equity donations made by staff to various causes.

The matching terms vary based on the employee's start date. Staff hired before 2025 are eligible for a 3:1 match on up to 50% of their equity grants, while newer hires fall under a 1:1 tier. In the first quarter of 2026 alone, these expenses totaled approximately $125 million.

The company's total corporate charitable contributions for 2025 reached approximately $540 million. For comparison, BlackRock, the largest donor among Fortune 500 companies, contributed $109 million during the same period.

Because the program is funded through equity rather than cash, it does not impact the company's bank balance. However, analysts note that this practice leads to the dilution of existing shareholders and may obscure the company's true financial performance in profit reports.

Future costs associated with the program could reach into the billions if Anthropic's equity becomes more liquid and tradable. Investors are currently monitoring how the company will account for these recurring charges in future financial filings and adjusted profit metrics.
