Anthropic launched public beta support for OpenTelemetry tracing on its Claude platform on October 14, 2026. This integration covers Claude Managed Agents, the Messages API, and the Claude SDK.

The system follows OpenTelemetry GenAI semantic conventions, automatically capturing latency, token counts, model names, tool usage, and status reports. An optional full-content mode records prompt and response text for debugging.

Developers can route data to platforms like Grafana Cloud, Sentry, Splunk, and New Relic. Supported languages include Python, TypeScript, Go, Java, C#, PHP, and Ruby.

The tracing extends to Claude Code, Cowork, and interactions via the Model Context Protocol. This update follows the recent release of dynamic workflows on October 9 and Claude Haiku 5.5 on October 7, 2026.
