Google has released the Android 17 QPR2 Beta 7 update, identified by build number CP41.260831.016. The release includes a security patch dated October 5, 2026, and is available for Pixel 6a and newer devices, excluding the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro models.

The update addresses a specific power consumption issue where the 'Flip to Shh' feature prevented the processor from entering deep sleep mode. This caused excessive battery drain when devices were placed face down on surfaces.

Additionally, the release fixes a bug in the system's DownloadManager that caused HTTPS file downloads to fail. Users can install the update via the Android Beta Program or by sideloading the system image.

Google advises that Pixel 11 Pro Fold users may need to re-register their facial data to ensure the Face Unlock feature functions correctly. As this is a beta version, the company recommends backing up data before installation.
