Four long-dormant Bitcoin wallets transferred a total of 1,971.03 BTC between September 6 and September 22. The total value of these assets is estimated at $161 million. Analysts from Galaxy Research noted that these movements reflect a broader trend of ancient Bitcoin stashes returning to activity throughout 2026.
The largest transaction involved 1,260.78 BTC, valued at approximately $100.63 million, which had remained inactive since July 2016. Another significant transfer included 600 BTC, worth about $51.9 million, originating from a wallet dormant since July 2012. These movements highlight the return of supply that has been untouched for over a decade.
Additional activity included two smaller wallets holding 10.25 BTC and 100 BTC, which had been inactive since 2011. Three of the four wallets involved in the recent transfers were associated with the Noah Doe sender tag, linked to a New York lawsuit regarding abandoned Bitcoin addresses. Legal proceedings for this case were paused in June.
While these transfers indicate significant on-chain movement, the ultimate intent of the owners remains unclear. On-chain data does not confirm whether the assets are being sold, consolidated, or moved to new custody. The recipient of the most recent 600 BTC transfer has not been identified.
